Solar And Wind Power For Home – Ideas For The Beginner

by Macky Braun

Two things have become apparent of late. First, the planet is in serious trouble. Secondly, the places and way we get our energy are dangerous and becoming harder to find. These have led millions to switch to solar and wind power for home utilities. This lets these families keep their energy and the planet safe. Here’s what beginners need to know.

The sun is a functionally infinite source of clean power. Everything that lives was given its energy by the sun, why shouldn’t your home get its there? When I came to this realization, I saw solar as the best renewable energy: without burning or hydrocarbons, it is the safest energy for our water, air and atmosphere.

Solar power isn’t just the cleanest; it is the safest and most progressive source of electricity. No failures by or attacks on any corporation or distant power plant can phase you when you generate your own solar power. Every other house on your block may be dark; yours will still be enlightened, come what may.

I assumed at first that solar panels would be expensive, but like many innovations in solar and wind power for home, things are improving. Tax incentives abound for the technology, and it increases your home’s resale value: it’s a great investment. Also, with the newest generation of do-it-yourself panels, I was able to get solar power on the cheap.

Wind power takes your solar electricity to the next level. You see, solar doesn’t work when the sun isn’t out, but these times-after dark and during storms-are when the wind really kicks up. Windmills have been used for centuries, solar panels only a few years, but together they make your home safe and green.

Wind power is great even alone. Its installation is simpler, and entry costs are lower than solar power. It is just as green, just as renewable and easily as safe as solar power, empowering you to do right by your kids and your planet. Both or either, solar and wind power for home electricity work wonders.

Finally, a quick warning. Solar panels do cause pollution when their materials are mined and manufactured. I also had a conservationist neighbor concerned about the threat my windmill may pose to birds. Despite all this, she was happy with me for doing the right thing for the planet and my security by switching to wind and solar.

With solar panels or windmills you ensure a safer, cleaner planet for your posterity. Every year brings lower prices for solar power, and the latest generation is designed to be installed by anybody. Windmills too can add to your solar array, or serve by themselves. Whichever you choose, our future depends on green technologies like these.
